Over time, the effects of gravity, sun exposure, and aging can cause the face and neck to sag, droop, and wrinkle. Hollows may develop where plump contours had been, and jowls may form along the jawline. A facelift can reverse many of these signs of aging, providing a more youthful and rested appearance.

As a board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Vanessa Voge is dedicated to helping her patients become the best version of themselves. The facelift procedures that she performs serve this goal by providing natural-looking renewal, helping patients reflect their inner identity on the outside.

Why Patients Choose Dr. Voge for Facelift

Dr. Voge offers Wichita patients extensive experience and surgical expertise, both of which are necessary for a facelift to provide an aesthetically pleasing outcome. Through intensive training, advanced skills, and an artistic eye, she is able to create subtle and impactful results.

Dr. Voge combines several techniques in her facelift surgeries. Typically, these include repositioning the supporting tissue; removing excess skin; and restoring facial contours through fat transfer. Taking these steps helps restore a patient’s natural features: smoother skin, gently rounded cheeks, and a more defined angle between the jawline and neck.

Your Experience with Facelift

Initial Consultation with Dr. Voge

At Plastic Surgical Specialists, our staff’s primary concern is your well-being. The moment you walk in, our team will help you feel welcome and supported. Your Clinical Specialist will guide you through the process and remain available to address any questions or concerns you may have. During your visit with Dr. Voge, she will:

  • Ask about what brought you into the office and about the changes you may want to make to your appearance.
  • Discuss the surgical and non-surgical options she offers Wichita patients and review how they compare to one another.
  • Describe in detail how she performs a facelift, and, using a mirror, demonstrate what the procedure can and cannot accomplish.

Dr. Voge will take the time to ensure that you understand your options and are comfortable with whatever decision you make. Together, you will formulate a comprehensive treatment plan that best suits your needs and aesthetic goals.

If you and Dr. Voge decide that a facelift is right for you, you can schedule your procedure that same day. If you need more time to think it over, you can return to our office or call us to schedule at a later date.

On the Day of Your Facelift

Your procedure will take place at a Wichita-area surgical center. Dr. Voge will meet with you beforehand to review your treatment plan and what you can expect when you wake up. You will be asleep under general anesthesia during the operation, which usually takes 3-4 hours. During this time, Dr. Voge will:

  • Restore the underlying structure of your mid-to-lower face to a more youthful position.
  • Remove excess skin from the upper layer to reduce sagging, wrinkles, and laxity.
  • Transfer your own natural body fat to hollow areas of the face, returning firmness and contour.
  • Place incisions along the hairline, in natural facial folds, and behind the ears to limit the visibility of scars.

After your facelift, a nurse will provide you with medication to ease discomfort and detailed instructions about aftercare. You should be able to go home within a few hours with the help of another adult driver. Dr. Voge will see you back at Plastic Surgical Specialists in two days for your first follow-up visit.

Your Recovery from Facelift

Expect bruising and swelling for 2-4 weeks after your facelift. Pain medication should help control any initial soreness. Dr. Voge recommends avoiding activities or exercise that might affect your results. She will provide detailed instructions on how to care for incision sites as well as special gel to minimize scars.

After your initial follow-up visit, you will return to see Dr. Voge at her Wichita office in one week, at which time she will remove any remaining stitches. You will also have a follow up appointment at six weeks. By this point, swelling should have diminished considerably, and bruises should be gone.

By about three months after your facelift, you should see your final results: a more rested appearance with youthful contours, fewer deep wrinkles, and smoother, firmer skin.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • I'm mostly bothered by the appearance of my neck. Can I just get a neck lift?

A facelift addresses the mid-face and neck areas. The process of tightening and stabilizing the supporting tissues of the lower face effectively smooths and lifts the neck at the same time. A procedure for the neck alone will not provide results that blend the jawline in as well.

  • Will I look windblown or as if I've "had work done?"

The mask-like, overly tight appearance we sometimes see with celebrities is the result of multiple or excessive procedures. Dr. Voge is dedicated to providing Wichita patients with natural-looking, inconspicuous results. Patients appear rejuvenated with no obvious evidence they have had cosmetic surgery.

  • Will a facelift get rid of all of my wrinkles?

A facelift is effective at minimizing deep wrinkles and furrows, as it repositions the underlying facial structure. Fine wrinkles may remain, but Dr. Voge can address them with other cosmetic solutions. She will be happy to discuss these with you in detail so you can make a fully informed decision.

  • Will I be able to get back to work and my usual routine right away?

A facelift can be a highly effective way to recapture a younger, more rested appearance. However, the procedure does cause bruising that may limit your desire to be in public for several weeks after surgery. Dr. Voge’s patients in Wichita find that the effective, long-lasting improvement they see once fully healed more than compensates for this downtime.
