Also known as submental fullness, a double chin can make you look older and heavier than you actually are.
In the past, the only solution was to undergo surgical liposuction. Now there is an in-office procedure option for those that want to get rid of their double chin but are not willing to get surgery–KYBELLA® injectable treatment.
Kybella® is the only FDA-Approved injectable treatment that helps destroy fat cells under your chin to improve your appearance.
The active ingredient in KYBELLA® is synthetic deoxycholic acid. Deoxycholic acid is a molecule that is naturally produced by your body. This molecule helps in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. KYBELLA® is injected into the fat beneath the chin, to help destroy fat cells, resulting in a noticeable reduction in fullness under the chin. These cells can no longer accumulate and store fat once destroyed, so continuous treatment is not necessary after you have reached your aesthetic goal.
How does Kybella® Work?
Dr. Vanessa Voge, a plastic surgeon in Wichita, Kansas is specially trained to administer KYBELLA® to those patients desiring an improved chin profile. At each treatment, you will receive multiple small injections under your chin. The injection process takes about 30 minutes.
Since each individual’s chin profile is different, the number of treatments varies from patient to patient. Dr. Voge will help determine how many treatment sessions you need after assessing the amount and distribution of your submental fat and talking with you about your personal goals.
Each KYBELLA® treatment session is given eight weeks apart. After your KYBELLA® treatment, you will have swelling, bruising, or numbness under your chin. Dr. Voge suggests not making plans for at least three days post treatment as the swelling will be quite noticeable.
